One Optics Ltd is a mobile optician based in Wimbledon, run by Bilal Abbas MCOptom, an optometrist registered with the General Optical Council (GOC No. 01-38339). We are the "data controller" for the information described on this page.

What we collect, and why

When you send an enquiry

Our enquiry forms ask for your name, phone number, email address (optional), the postcode or town for the visit, your preferred days, and anything you choose to add in the notes. On the NHS page, the result of the eligibility checker is included with your enquiry if you use it.

We use this for one purpose only: to reply to you and arrange your appointment. If your enquiry mentions your health (for example, an eligibility answer or a note about a condition), we treat that with extra care and only use it because you have chosen to share it with us to arrange your care.

When you call, message or email us

We keep what you send us for as long as we need it to handle your enquiry and appointments. If you message us on WhatsApp, WhatsApp's own privacy policy also applies to that conversation.

When you have an eye examination

Your clinical records (your prescription, examination findings and history) are kept securely and separately, as every optometrist is required to do. These are held for at least ten years, in line with professional record-keeping requirements for optometry.

When you browse this website

We use Plausible, a privacy-friendly analytics tool. It does not use cookies and does not identify you personally. It tells us things like how many people visited a page, never who they are.

Where your information goes

Your enquiry is delivered to us by Netlify (who host this website and process the forms) and stored in our secure practice system. We never sell your information, and we never share it for anyone else's marketing.

We only share information when it is part of your care or required of us: for example, NHS paperwork for NHS-funded sight tests, a referral letter you have agreed to, or where the law requires it.

Cookies

This website sets no cookies of its own. Two third-party services load on some pages and may process your IP address in doing so: Google Maps (the map on our contact page) and Google Fonts (the lettering on every page).

How long we keep things

• Enquiries and messages: no longer than needed, and normally deleted within two years
• Clinical records: at least ten years, as required for optometric records
• Invoices and business records: as required by tax law

Your rights

You can ask us at any time to:

• see a copy of the information we hold about you
• correct anything that is wrong
• delete information we no longer need to keep (some clinical records must be kept by law)
• limit or object to how we use your information
• receive your information in a portable format

Just contact us at info@oneoptics.co.uk and we will respond within a month. If you are unhappy with how we have handled your information, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113.

Changes to this policy

If we change how we handle your information, we will update this page.
