One Optics provides free NHS funded mobile sight tests across Wimbledon, Merton, Tooting, Wandsworth, Sutton and throughout London, Surrey, Kent and Hampshire.
We carry out a full eye examination using the latest portable equipment, advise on your prescription, and help you choose your glasses all from the comfort of your own home or care home.
One Optics is an NHS-registered domiciliary optician (a home-visiting optician) based in Wimbledon. Not eligible for an NHS test? Our private home eye tests work in exactly the same way: we come to you, from £49.

Eligibility
Who qualifies for a free NHS home eye test?
You qualify for a free NHS sight test if any of these apply:
- ✓ You are aged 60 or over
- ✓ You are under 16, or aged 16–18 in full-time education
- ✓ You have diabetes or glaucoma, or have been advised by an eye specialist that you are at risk of glaucoma
- ✓ You are registered sight impaired, or aged 40+ with a parent, sibling or child with glaucoma
- ✓ You receive Pension Credit Guarantee Credit, Income Support or Universal Credit (earnings limits apply), or hold an HC2 certificate
And you qualify to have that test at home if you also cannot leave home on your own because of illness or disability. If that's you or your relative, the NHS pays for the visit in full. You pay nothing for the test.

What happens during a home eye test?
Your optometrist brings portable equipment matching high-street standards and carries out a full NHS sight test in the room you're most comfortable in. If you need glasses, frames are chosen with you at home, and delivered and fitted at home too.
Is the home eye test really free?
Yes. If you qualify, the NHS funds the sight test in full, so there is nothing to pay for the test itself. If you need glasses and you also qualify for an NHS optical voucher, it can cover some or all of the cost, and we handle the paperwork for you.
Can I book a home eye test for a parent or relative?
Yes. Most home visits are arranged by a son, daughter or carer. Fill in the enquiry form with your own contact details, and you're welcome to be there on the day.
Do I need a GP referral for a home eye test?

Can you test someone with dementia or limited mobility?
Yes. We regularly test patients living with dementia or limited mobility, adapting each test to the person and taking the time the visit needs. Your optometrist is DBS checked and safeguarding trained.
